Brass or Chrome Knob Walking Stick
These unusual Country Canes are crafted by American craftsmen with American wood. The Brass Knob Country cane comes with either a Sassafras or Oak shaft. The Chrome Knob Country cane comes with a solid Hickory shaft. The solid metal knob fits comfortably in the grip and adds a great deal of elegance to a sturdy country-style cane. On Sassafras and Hickory sticks, the bark of the shaft is peeled and the cane is highly polished, revealing the naturally mottled wood. The oak stick is in natural finish, highlighting its classic pale grain. Because the shafts is naturally finished the measurements given may vary slightly. These canes come in the standard length of 37", but can be cut to size.
These canes are made in the U.S.A. Each cane comes with a leather wrist strap and a long-life rubber tip.

This is an excellent, good looking & strong cane. It receives many compliments from the ladies, as well as from men who recognize it as a superb weapon in the event of difficulty.
However, I need the cane to assist my walking rather than provide a little additional support for a weak knee and here it has two shortcomings:
* The knob does not give an absolute, positive grip on the cane, especially if your hand is sweating. Soon, that brass knob will get very cold in Montana's winters and I expect that gripping the brass knob through thick, winter gloves will be unsatisfactory.
* I often drop the cane because the knob does not lend itself to hanging it - and the little leather loop doesn't always find a good place for hanging either. Dropping the cane does give me an opening with the ladies who offer assistance, but in the men's room, the mishap is less favorable on a number of levels.
I'm shopping for a new cane hoping to find a strong cane with a good handle for gripping.
